About Rodger:
Rodger Helt was raised in the Heartland of the U.S. Rodger's artistic talent was recognized early on. He received a prolific amount of awards for his art and drafting skills from grade school through University. Helt worked in advertising art departments through high school and college, then launched his own commercial art agency upon receiving his Design degree. The demand for Helt's illustrations and designs from such clients as Mercedes Benz to General Mills kept him very busy, and his artwork has been recreated in about any media you can name. Soon the amount of large commercial development clients he represented in Florida, including Walt Disney Development, brought him to move to Florida, where he decided to live near the ocean.
In the 1980's one of Helt's posters entitled, "Peace on Earth," was marketed in Metropolitan Home and Metropolis magazines to help raise money for AIDS research. Orders came in from world-wide. In the 90's Helt created a line of greeting cards and prints, which were sold in America and Europe to help raise money for AIDS, breast cancer research and children's advocacy. They were recreations from the "Arcane Series" of paintings Helt did that features archetypes emerging from dramatic landscapes accompanied by verse written to express his own interpretation.
Helt's passion for art and architecture have led to his successes also, creating luxury home designs, offices and restaurant designs, including a thematic residential subdivisions for a midwest developer.
Helt's travels over the years are the inspiration for his series of landscapes. Many are field studies. Helt works in oil, acrylic, pastels, charcoal and pencil. Fascinated by color theory, Helt draws upon the studies of Albers and Itten for the dramatic expression of color in his paintings. The goal of Helt's work, he says, is to "Convey and evoke emotion."
